This marks my fourth Sunday here at St. Joseph. I am so grateful for the welcome I have received. I truly feel at home. I am coming to learn that our parish is rich in discipleship, community, and service. I am amazed by how generous the people of our community are.

This week I will be away Sunday through Saturday to facilitate our Quo Vadis Days retreat for young men discerning the priesthood and Talitha Koum retreat for young women who are discerning life as consecrated women religious. These two retreats are some of the most important tools we have for promoting vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life.

Please pray for me, the priests, seminarians, and religious sisters who will be serving on the retreat teams. Please also pray for the young men and women who will be participating. We ask that the Lord may give them clarity and confidence in the desires of their hearts and the courage to follow his will for their lives.

While I will be away, you all are in the capable hands of Fr. Grim. Our parish is blessed to be served by two priests so that the sacraments may continue to be offered during times like this. Please pray for many new vocations to the priesthood so that every parish can be so blessed!

Este es mi cuarto domingo aquí en San José. Estoy muy agradecido por la acogida que he recibido; realmente me siento como en casa. Estoy descubriendo que nuestra parroquia es rica en discipulado, comunidad y servicio. Me asombra la generosidad de los miembros de nuestra comunidad.

Esta semana estaré ausente —desde el domingo hasta el sábado— para dirigir nuestros retiros “Quo Vadis Days”, destinado a jóvenes que disciernen el sacerdocio, y “Talitha Koum”, para jóvenes que disciernen la vida como religiosas consagradas. Estos dos retiros son algunas de las herramientas más importantes que tenemos para fomentar las vocaciones al sacerdocio y a la vida consagrada.

Por favor, oren por mí, así como por los sacerdotes, seminaristas y religiosas que formarán parte de los equipos de los retiros. Oren también por los jóvenes y las jóvenes que participarán en ellos. Pedimos al Señor que les conceda claridad y confianza respecto a los deseos de sus corazones, así como la valentía para seguir su voluntad en sus vidas.

Durante mi ausencia, ustedes quedarán en las manos competentes del P. Grim. Nuestra parroquia tiene la bendición de contar con dos sacerdotes, lo que permite que se sigan administrando los sacramentos en momentos como este. ¡Por favor, oren por muchas nuevas vocaciones al sacerdocio para que todas las parroquias puedan gozar de esta misma bendición!
