This is a season of newness for our parish community. You, the faithful, are welcoming and receiving a new Pastor – quite warmly and graciously, I must say. I am learning how to be a Pastor for the first time. Fr. Grim is beginning a new stage of his ministry after being asked by Archbishop Coakley to serve as chaplain at Mount St. Mary Catholic High School in addition to his service here among us.

Newness and change can bring a mixture of emotions – nostalgia for what came before, excitement about the future, uncertainty about the unknown, and lots and lots of effort in making the adjustments of life.

You all were so blessed to be led by a faithful and experienced shepherd in Fr. Irwin for the last 8 years. I am honored and a little awed to be following in his footsteps. He was my Director of Seminarians when I was undergoing seminary formation.

I am grateful for your patience as I grow into this new role for the first time in my priesthood. Thank you also for your patience with Fr. Grim as he learns how to juggle multiple assignments for the first time.

God is present in the newness! He makes all things new, and his mercies are new every morning. I look forward to walking into the newness with you. I look forward to learning not only your faces and names, but your stories, gifts, and talents as well. You are in my daily prayers.

Esta es una etapa de novedades para nuestra comunidad parroquial. Ustedes, los fieles, están dando la bienvenida y recibiendo a un nuevo párroco; debo decir que lo hacen con gran calidez y amabilidad. Yo estoy aprendiendo a ejercer como párroco por primera vez. El P. Grim comienza una nueva etapa de su ministerio después de que el Arzobispo Coakley le pidiera servir como capellán en la Escuela Secundaria Católica Mount St. Mary, además de su servicio aquí entre nosotros.

Padre Jerónimo

My name is Fr. Jerome Krug, and I am your new pastor. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.

More often than not, people call me Fr. Jerome, though Fr. Krug gets mixed in there too (pronounced like the word “crew” with a hard g on the end). The Spanish-speaking community affectionately calls me Padre Jerónimo. I am happy to answer to any of them.

The most important thing to know about me is that I love Jesus, and I love being His priest!

Over the seven years since my ordination, I have served in several different assignments. I served at Our Lady’s Cathedral, St. Peter the Apostle in Guymon and its missions, and most recently at St. Eugene in Oklahoma City. I have also served as chaplain at Mount St. Mary Catholic High School and in various roles in the Archdiocesan Vocations Office. I have loved each of these assignments and the people I have been privileged to serve.

I grew up in Edmond, where my family attended St. Monica Parish. My parents are both cradle Catholics. My dad is an Oklahoma City police officer, and my mom teaches high school math. I am the oldest of seven children – five boys and two girls. I was homeschooled from kindergarten through eighth grade, after which I attended Mount St. Mary Catholic High School. It was during my junior year there that I first began to discern a vocation to the priesthood.

After high school, I entered seminary formation. I spent four years at Conception Seminary College in northwest Missouri and then completed my formation with four years at the Pontifical North American College in Rome. Following my ordination, I returned to Rome to spend my first year as a priest earning an advanced degree in moral theology.

I have a passion for exercise and fitness. I find them to be not only rewarding hobbies but also important means of maintaining balance and wellness in life. I also love being outdoors. Lake Hefner was a good friend to me during my time at St. Eugene, and I look forward to finding similar places around Norman to enjoy.

As we begin our time together as shepherd and flock, as disciples walking together with the Lord, I look forward to getting to know you. I can already tell that this is a special parish, and I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for us.

In addition to serving as your pastor, I will continue my work in the Archdiocesan Vocations Office as Vocation Director. I consider it a privilege to accompany young men who are discerning whether the Lord may be calling them to the priesthood. I count on your prayers and support in this important ministry.

Me llamo Padre Jerome Krug y soy su nuevo párroco. Quisiera aprovechar esta oportunidad para presentarme.

Por lo general, la gente me llama Padre Jerome, aunque a veces me llaman Padre Krug (pronunciado como la palabra inglesa "crew" seguida de una "g" fuerte al final). La comunidad de habla hispana me llama cariñosamente Padre Jerónimo. Me siento feliz de responder a cualquiera de estos nombres.

¡Lo más importante que deben saber sobre mí es que amo a Jesús y amo ser su sacerdote!

En los siete años transcurridos desde mi ordenación, he desempeñado diversas funciones. He servido en la Catedral de Nuestra Señora (Our Lady’s Cathedral), en la parroquia de San Pedro Apóstol (St. Peter the Apostle) en Guymon y sus misiones, y más recientemente en San Eugenio (St. Eugene) en Oklahoma City. También he sido capellán de la escuela secundaria católica Mount St. Mary y he ocupado varios cargos en la Oficina de Vocaciones de la Arquidiócesis. He disfrutado enormemente de cada una de estas asignaciones y de las personas a las que he tenido el privilegio de servir.

También me encanta estar al aire libre. El lago Hefner fue un gran compañero durante mi estancia en San Eugenio, y espero encontrar lugares similares en los alrededores de Norman para disfrutar.

Al comenzar nuestro camino juntos como pastor y rebaño, como discípulos que caminan junto al Señor, espero con ilusión conocerlos. Ya percibo que esta es una parroquia especial y espero con ilusión ver lo que el Señor nos tiene reservado.

Además de servir como su párroco, continuaré mi labor en la Oficina de Vocaciones de la Arquidiócesis como director de vocaciones. Considero un privilegio acompañar a los jóvenes que disciernen si el Señor los está llamando al sacerdocio. Cuento con sus oraciones y su apoyo en este importante ministerio.

Sepan que rezo diariamente por ustedes y por sus familias.

As I finish up my time serving at St. Joseph Parish in Norman, I am filled with gratitude.  We have accomplished many beautiful things in these last 8 years.  From paying off the longtime debt to the Parish Center, to building up our Discipleship Ministry, to finding ways each day to encounter Jesus in the Sacraments of the Church.  I will never forget the weeks and months during the COVID crisis where the parish came together in a beautiful way through online giving, live streaming masses and outdoor confessions.  I have had the privilege of celebrating the funerals of many longtime St. Joseph Parishioners, baptizing your children and witnessing so many beautiful weddings.  I have fond memories of celebrating Midnight Christmas Masses, Easter Vigils and the Solemnity of St. Joseph with you throughout the years.  There is such a spirit of generosity, community and love at St. Joseph and it has helped me to become a better priest.  I have loved working with all of you during these years.  I have loved celebrating the mass with you.  I have loved growing in holiness and peace while we adore Jesus in the Eucharist together.  I will never forget you and will always pray for my home parish, St. Joseph in Norman. 

Pray for me and for the Sacred Heart Parish Family.  Pray for the Shrine of Blessed Stanley Rother.  Pray for the work that God has planned for me as their new pastor.  Your prayers and support are so important.  I love you all and will pray for you daily.  Jesus, we trust in you!

Al concluir mi tiempo de servicio en la parroquia San José en Norman, me siento lleno de gratitud. Hemos logrado muchas cosas hermosas en estos últimos ocho años: desde saldar la antigua deuda del Centro Parroquial y fortalecer nuestro ministerio de discipulado, hasta encontrar formas cotidianas de encontrarnos con Jesús en los sacramentos de la Iglesia. Nunca olvidaré las semanas y meses de la crisis del COVID, cuando la parroquia se unió de manera maravillosa a través de las donaciones en línea, las misas transmitidas en vivo y las confesiones al aire libre. He tenido el privilegio de celebrar los funerales de muchos feligreses de larga trayectoria en San José, de bautizar a sus hijos y de ser testigo de tantas bodas hermosas. Guardo gratos recuerdos de haber celebrado con ustedes, a lo largo de los años, la Misa de Gallo en Navidad, la Vigilia Pascual y la Solemnidad de San José. En San José existe un espíritu de generosidad, comunidad y amor que me ha ayudado a ser un mejor sacerdote. He disfrutado enormemente trabajar con todos ustedes durante estos años; he amado celebrar la misa con ustedes y crecer en santidad y paz mientras adorábamos juntos a Jesús en la Eucaristía. Nunca los olvidaré y siempre rezaré por mi parroquia de origen: San José en Norman.

Recen por mí y por la familia parroquial del Sagrado Corazón. Recen por el Santuario del Beato Stanley Rother. Recen por la obra que Dios tiene planeada para mí como su nuevo párroco. Today we celebrate and honor the Fathers of our families and in our parish.  Thank you Fathers for being shining examples of the Heavenly Father’s love for us and for the Church.  We honor all fathers, grandfathers, great grandfathers, god-fathers and all who live their lives serving their families with a fatherly love. 

From the Cross, Jesus prayed to His Father in heaven saying, “Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing”.  Fathers know how to love us, to show mercy, to discipline when needed, to protect their families and to forgive.  Thank you for Fathers for your love and devotion. 

We pray today for our Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV.  God bless him and guide his work in serving the Church on earth.   Jesus, we trust in you.

Felíz Día del Padre

Hoy celebramos y honramos a los padres de nuestras familias y de nuestra parroquia. Gracias, padres, por ser ejemplos luminosos del amor del Padre Celestial hacia nosotros y hacia la Iglesia. Honramos a todos los padres, abuelos, bisabuelos, padrinos y a todos aquellos que viven sirviendo a sus familias con amor paternal.

Desde la Cruz, Jesús oró a su Padre celestial diciendo: «Padre, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen». Los padres saben amarnos, mostrar misericordia, disciplinar cuando es necesario, proteger a sus familias y perdonar. Gracias, padres, por su amor y entrega.

Hoy oramos por nuestro Santo Padre, el Papa León XIV. Que Dios lo bendiga y guíe su labor al servicio de la Iglesia en la tierra. Jesús, confiamos en ti.

As the Church in the United States has consecrated the country to the most Sacred Heart of Jesus, we as families need to continue turning our prayers and needs to Jesus and His divine love.  Trust in the Love of Jesus.  We keep hearing sad news about the number of people leaving the Catholic Church.  There is an increase of language and actions that persecute the Catholic Church every day.  In other countries, Catholic Christians live in fear of their lives and do not have the freedom to worship God.  Jesus, deliver us from this time.  Jesus, we trust in you. 

I encourage you to pray this beautiful prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus written by Pope Leo XIV for this year’s devotions and consecration. 

Let’s pray this together in trust:

Lord, I come to your tender heart today, to you who have words that set my heart ablaze, to you who pour out compassion on the little ones and the poor, on those who suffer, and on all human miseries.

I desire to know you more, to contemplate you in the Gospel, to be with you and learn from you and from the charity with which you allowed yourself to be touched by all forms of poverty. You showed us the Father’s love by loving us without measure with your divine and human heart.  Amen

Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, Ten Misericordia de nosotros

Dado que la Iglesia en los Estados Unidos ha consagrado el país al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, nosotros, como familias, debemos seguir dirigiendo nuestras oraciones y necesidades a Jesús y a su amor divino. Confíen en el amor de Jesús. Seguimos escuchando noticias tristes sobre el número de personas que abandonan la Iglesia Católica. Cada día aumenta el uso de un lenguaje y la realización de acciones que persiguen a la Iglesia Católica. En otros países, los cristianos católicos temen por sus vidas y carecen de libertad para adorar a Dios. Jesús, líbranos de estos tiempos. Jesús, confiamos en ti.

Los animo a rezar esta hermosa oración al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, escrita por el Papa León XIV para las devociones y la consagración de este año.

Recémosla juntos con confianza:

Jesus says to us, He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood will have life.  The Eucharist is Life!  We receive the Eucharist so we can become more and more conformed to the life of Jesus.  The Lord offers His body and blood on the Cross.  He gives us His body and blood in the Eucharist.  We are His body and blood proclaiming the truth of the Gospel in the world.  I strongly encourage you, receive the Eucharist often, adore Christ in the eucharist in our adoration chapel and turn to the Lord who says to us, I have come so that you might have life and have it abundantly. 

Solemnidad del Santo Cuerpo y Sangre de Jesús

Jesús nos dice: «Quien come mi carne y bebe mi sangre tendrá vida». ¡La Eucaristía es Vida! Recibimos la Eucaristía para conformarnos cada vez más a la vida de Jesús. El Señor ofrece su cuerpo y su sangre en la Cruz; nos entrega su cuerpo y su sangre en la Eucaristía. Nosotros somos su cuerpo y su sangre, proclamando la verdad del Evangelio en el mundo. Los animo encarecidamente a recibir la Eucaristía con frecuencia, a adorar a Cristo en la Eucaristía en nuestra capilla de adoración y a volverse hacia el Señor, quien nos dice: «He venido para que tengan vida, y la tengan en abundancia».          

We pray today in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  When we pray, we call upon the power of God to show us the way to Heaven.  In the name of the Father who loves us, the Son who saves us and the Holy Spirit who sanctifies our lives, we are saved.  God always works within the three persons of the Holy Trinity.  At the baptism of Jesus, He reveals to us the truth of who God is and how He saves us.  Through Him, with Him and in Him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.  Amen.

Solemnidad de la Santísima Trinidad

Hoy oramos en el nombre del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo. Cuando oramos, invocamos el poder de Dios para que nos muestre el camino al Cielo. En el nombre del Padre que nos ama, del Hijo que nos salva y del Espíritu Santo que santifica nuestras vidas, somos salvados. Dios obra siempre a través de las tres personas de la Santísima Trinidad. En el bautismo de Jesús, Él nos revela la verdad de quién es Dios y de cómo nos salva. Por Él, con Él y en Él, en la unidad del Espíritu Santo, un solo Dios por los siglos de los siglos. Come Holy Spirit!  On this Solemnity of Pentecost, the Church is born, and we turn our minds and hearts to the power of the Holy Spirit bringing power to the Missionary life of the Church.  We pray today that the Holy Spirit will fill our hearts, sanctify our lives and guide the Church towards the Salvation of Jesus.  Jesus promises that He will be with us until the end of the age.  He does this by sending forth the Holy Spirit and guiding the Church’s life and mission.  What is the mission of the Church in Christ?  The salvation of the world is the only mission.  We as baptized members of the Church are called to proclaim the power of Christ and His Holy Spirit.  What is keeping you from embracing the power of the Holy Spirit and proclaiming Christ in the world?  Do not be afraid to pray, come Holy Spirit and fill the hearts of your faithful.  Pray to the Holy Spirit today and throughout your life.  Trust in the divine life that the Holy Spirit offers us in the Church and for the salvation of all souls. 

Solemnidad de Pentecostés

¡Ven, Espíritu Santo! En esta Solemnidad de Pentecostés, nace la Iglesia, y volvemos nuestra mente y nuestro corazón hacia el poder del Espíritu Santo, que infunde fuerza a la vida misionera de la Iglesia. Hoy oramos para que el Espíritu Santo llene nuestros corazones, santifique nuestras vidas y guíe a la Iglesia hacia la salvación de Jesús. Jesús promete que estará con nosotros hasta el fin de los tiempos. Él cumple esta promesa enviando al Espíritu Santo y guiando la vida y la misión de la Iglesia. ¿Cuál es la misión de la Iglesia en Cristo? La salvación del mundo es su única misión. Today we celebrate and congratulate our Seniors who will graduate from High School.  What you have achieved is a blessing from God.  We pray that your faith will stay strong as you begin your young adult life.  Trust in Jesus always.  Stay close to the Lord and His Church.  We pray for our families and all who celebrate today.  Thank you to our Women’s Club for serving the Senior Breakfast and for your support of our young people.

Hoy celebramos y felicitamos a nuestros estudiantes de último año que se graduarán de la escuela secundaria. Lo que han logrado es una bendición de Dios. Oramos para que su fe se mantenga firme al comenzar su vida como jóvenes adultos. Confíen siempre en Jesús. Manténganse cerca del Señor y de Su Iglesia. Oramos por nuestras familias y por todos los que celebran hoy. Agradecemos a nuestro Club de Mujeres por servir el desayuno a los graduandos y por su apoyo a nuestros jóvenes. We say thank you today to all Mothers for their love and prayers.  Fr. Grim and I would like to extend a blessing to all our Mothers who daily serve us, pray for us and show us the love of God.  Thank you for your tireless service to your families.  Thank you for showing us how to love others with the love that comes from God.  We pray today for all mothers, grandmothers, godmothers and expectant mothers.  May God bless you today and all the days of your life.

We ask that our Blessed Mother Mary pray for ua and help ua each day to say yes to the will of God.   Jesus we trust in you.

Felíz Día de las Madres

Hoy damos gracias a todas las madres por su amor y sus oraciones. El Padre Grim y yo deseamos impartir una bendición a todas nuestras madres, quienes a diario nos sirven, rezan por nosotros y nos muestran el amor de Dios. Gracias por su incansable servicio a sus familias. Gracias por enseñarnos a amar a los demás con el amor que proviene de Dios. Hoy rezamos por todas las madres, abuelas, madrinas y futuras madres. As you may have heard, Archbishop Coakley has asked me to be the new pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Oklahoma City.  With humility and trust, I am happy to serve the Archdiocese and go where I am needed.  I have loved serving at St. Joseph Parish for these last 8 years.  We have accomplished many things, pray together, and grown closer in our relationship with Jesus and His Church. Thank you for your faith and love for God.  Your faith has made me a better priest.  I will love you always and pray for you daily.  Pray for me as I prepare to move to Sacred Heart Parish. Pray for your new pastor, Fr. Jerome Krug.  He will serve you with joy and the love of Jesus. Jesus, we trust in you.

Nuevas asignaciones: Confiando en la voluntad de Dios

Como habrán escuchado, el Arzobispo Coakley me ha pedido que sea el nuevo párroco de la Parroquia del Sagrado Corazón en Oklahoma City. Con humildad y confianza, me alegra servir a la Arquidiócesis e ir a donde se me necesite. He amado servir en la Parroquia de San José durante estos últimos ocho años. his Saturday we celebrated with our children who received Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time.  I ask you to say a special prayer for them.  Our First Communion is such a special moment in our faith.  Sadly, many of us forget the power of Jesus and the importance of the Eucharist as we grow older.  We need a revival of Eucharistic Love.  Jesus loves us so much that we choses to come to us in this Sacrament of Love.  His whole body, blood, soul and divinity is offered to us at every Mass.  Come to Jesus and receive this gift of the Eucharist. 

Congratulations to our children and their families.  Pray for our parish that we too will grow closer to the heart of Jesus in the Eucharist.  Jesus, we trust in you.

Primera Comunión

Este sábado celebramos con nuestros niños, quienes recibieron a Jesús en la Eucaristía por primera vez. Les pido que eleven una oración especial por ellos. Nuestra Primera Comunión es un momento verdaderamente especial en nuestra fe. Lamentablemente, muchos de nosotros olvidamos el poder de Jesús y la importancia de la Eucaristía a medida que crecemos. Necesitamos un renacer del amor eucarístico. Jesús nos ama tanto que eligió venir a nosotros en este Sacramento del Amor. Todo su cuerpo, sangre, alma y divinidad se nos ofrecen en cada Misa. Acérquense a Jesús y reciban este don de la Eucaristía.

¡Felicidades a nuestros niños y a sus familias! Oren por nuestra parroquia, para que también nosotros nos acerquemos más al corazón de Jesús en la Eucaristía. Jesús, en ti confiamos.

As we celebrate the Easter Season, we ask the Lord the increase our joy.  We have many thing to pray about in our lives and in our world.  We pray for peace.  We pray for an increase in forgiveness and mercy.  We pray that many will find Jesus in His holy Catholic Church.  We pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood, especially from our parish community.  We pray that God will help us if we are suffering from grief, sadness, depression or anxiety.  We trust in the power of Jesus to heal us and help us to see that Joy is the only Way.  With Joy and Hope in the power of the Resurrection of Christ, we know where we are going.  Go to Jesus in your prayers.  Trust in Jesus.  Pray for our children receiving their First Holy Communion this coming Saturday.  God bless them and their families.  

Alegría de Pascua

Al celebrar el Tiempo Pascual, pedimos al Señor que aumente nuestra alegría. Tenemos muchos motivos por los cuales orar en nuestras vidas y en nuestro mundo. Oramos por la paz. Oramos por un aumento del perdón y la misericordia. Oramos para que muchos encuentren a Jesús en su santa Iglesia Católica. Oramos por un aumento de las vocaciones al sacerdocio, especialmente de nuestra comunidad parroquial. Oramos para que Dios nos ayude si estamos sufriendo a causa del duelo, la tristeza, la depresión o la ansiedad. Confiamos en el poder de Jesús para sanarnos y ayudarnos a ver que la alegría es el único camino. Con alegría y esperanza en el poder de la Resurrección de Cristo, sabemos hacia dónde nos dirigimos. Acudan a Jesús en sus oraciones. Confíen en Jesús. Oren por nuestros niños que recibirán su Primera Comunión este próximo sábado. Que Dios los bendiga a ellos y a sus familias.  

As we end this Octave of Easter, we celebrate this Sunday our devotion and need for Divine Mercy.  St. Faustina taught us about the desire of Jesus for all souls to increase their trust in His Divine Mercy.  This Sunday at 3pm, I invite you to join me and Fr. Grim in a Holy Hour for Mercy.  We will pray for our souls, for our Church, country and our world.  We pray that the Divine Mercy of Jesus will descend upon all people.  Jesus, we trust in you.

Domingo de la Divina Misericordia

Al concluir esta Octava de Pascua, celebramos este domingo nuestra devoción y nuestra necesidad de la Divina Misericordia. Santa Faustina nos enseñó acerca del deseo de Jesús de que todas las almas aumenten su confianza en Su Divina Misericordia. Este domingo, a las 3:00 p. m., los invito a unirse a mí y al Padre Grim en una Hora Santa por la Misericordia. Rezaremos por nuestras almas, por nuestra Iglesia, por nuestro país y por nuestro mundo. Oramos para que la Divina Misericordia de Jesús descienda sobre todas las personas. Jesús, en Ti confiamos.     

Today is Palm Sunday.  Each year on this Sunday we begin Holy Week, the holiest time of the Liturgical Year.  We begin with Palm Sunday celebrating the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem.  We meditate on the Passion of Jesus.  We look toward His Resurrection and the redemption of the world.  I want to invite you into a time of prayer and retreat this week.  Meditate on the Cross.  Pray for mercy and peace.  I also invite you to join us for the Triduum celebrations of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.  In these holy liturgies of the Church, the story of our redemption in Christ is celebrated.  Jesus, by your holy Cross and Resurrection, you have set us free.

Semana Santa  / Hosanna en las alturas

Hoy es Domingo de Ramos. Cada año, en este domingo, damos inicio a la Semana Santa, el tiempo más sagrado del Año Litúrgico. Comenzamos con el Domingo de Ramos, celebrando la entrada de Jesús en Jerusalén. Meditamos en la Pasión de Jesús. Dirigimos nuestra mirada hacia su Resurrección y la redención del mundo. Deseo invitarlos a dedicar esta semana a un tiempo de oración y recogimiento. Mediten en la Cruz. Oren por la misericordia y la paz. También los invito a unirse a nosotros en las celebraciones del Triduo: el Jueves Santo, el Viernes Santo y el Sábado Santo. En estas santas liturgias de la Iglesia, se celebra la historia de nuestra redención en Cristo. Jesús, por tu Santa Cruz y tu Resurrección, nos has liberado.

The Sacrament of Confession or Reconciliation is the most avoided sacrament of the Church.  We are afraid of our sins.  We have convinced ourselves that we don’t need confession.  Some people even believe it is an outdated sacrament and not needed in today’s Church.  Some think, I am fine, my sin is not that bad.  This is all part of the plan of the Evil One.  The Evil One knows how powerful the Sacrament of Confession is for individuals and for the Church.  In this Sacrament, we experience the grace of Resurrection.  God saves our souls in confession.  God only loves us in the Sacrament of His Divine Mercy.  That is how I approach confession.  I am going to receive the Divine Mercy of Jesus.  When you go into confession, Jesus is pouring out mercy.  This is the same mercy that came from His wounded side on the Cross.  Come to Jesus.  Trust in Jesus.  Come to confession and do not be afraid.

Ven a confesarte; no temas ni te dejes engañar

El Sacramento de la Confesión o Reconciliación es el sacramento más evitado de la Iglesia. Tememos a nuestros pecados. Nos hemos convencido a nosotros mismos de que no necesitamos la confesión. Algunas personas incluso creen que es un sacramento obsoleto y que no es necesario en la Iglesia de hoy. Algunos piensan: «Estoy bien; mi pecado no es tan grave». Todo esto forma parte del plan del Maligno. El Maligno sabe cuán poderoso es el Sacramento de la Confesión, tanto para los individuos como para la Iglesia. En este Sacramento, experimentamos la gracia de la Resurrección. Dios salva nuestras almas en la confesión. Dios nos ama precisamente en el Sacramento de Su Divina Misericordia. Así es como yo me acerco a la confesión: voy a recibir la Divina Misericordia de Jesús. Cuando entras a confesarte, Jesús está derramando misericordia. Esta es la misma misericordia que brotó de Su costado herido en la Cruz. Ven a Jesús. Confía en Jesús. Ven a confesarte y no tengas miedo.

Where sin and the brokenness of the human condition naturally brings division and the inability to hear God, the Cross of Jesus brings all people together and opens the ears, minds and eyes of our hearts.  When we turn toward the Cross of Jesus, we are made whole.  When we turn to Jesus, we are one. 

Prayer with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration is a wonderful way to stay close to the Lord and to receive His Love.  Why not spend time with Jesus in prayer?  Why not commit to an hour of Jesus in our Perpetual Adoration Chapel?  Come to Jesus, He will help you.  Jesus, we trust in you.

La cruz de Jesús une al mundo

Donde el pecado y la fragilidad de la condición humana naturalmente traen división e incapacidad para escuchar a Dios, la Cruz de Jesús une a todas las personas y abre los oídos, la mente y los ojos de nuestros corazones. Cuando nos volvemos hacia la Cruz de Jesús, nos sentimos completos. Cuando nos volvemos a Jesús, somos uno.

Orar con Jesús en la Adoración Eucarística es una manera maravillosa de permanecer cerca del Señor y recibir su amor. ¿Por qué no pasar tiempo con Jesús en oración? ¿Por qué no dedicar una hora a Jesús en nuestra Capilla de Adoración Perpetua? Ven a Jesús, Él te ayudará. Jesús, confiamos en ti.

As Lent continues, we move closer to the Cross and our meditation on the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus.  Our Lord told us in the scriptures that if we follow Him with our whole heart, the world would not accept us.  The world might hate us.  Lent is a time to turn away from the secular world and toward the Cross.  Jesus is the only Way, Truth and Life.  Walk toward the Cross of Jesus with trust, not away from it in fear. 

Have you come to make a confession during the season of Lent?  Let me encourage you to examine your conscience and make a good confession sometime before Easter Sunday.  The Lord wants to forgive you, heal you and love you in this sacrament of mercy. 

La Cruz de Jesús

A medida que la Cuaresma continúa, nos acercamos a la Cruz y a nuestra meditación sobre la Pasión, Muerte y Resurrección de Jesús. Nuestro Señor nos dijo en las Escrituras que si lo seguimos con todo nuestro corazón, el mundo no nos aceptará. Podría odiarnos. La Cuaresma es un tiempo para alejarnos del mundo secular y acercarnos a la Cruz. Jesús es el único Camino, Verdad y Vida. Camina hacia la Cruz de Jesús con confianza, no te alejes de ella con miedo.

¿Has venido a confesarte durante la Cuaresma? Te animo a que hagas un examen de conciencia y una buena confesión antes del Domingo de Pascua. El Señor quiere perdonarte, sanarte y amarte en este sacramento de misericordia.                                                            

Not only does it [the Sacrament of Penance] free us from our sins but it also challenges us to have the same kind of compassion and forgiveness for those who sin against us.  We are liberated to be forgivers.  We obtain new insight into the words of the Prayer of St. Francis: "It is in pardoning that we are pardoned."

Jesus entrusted the ministry of reconciliation to the Church.  The Sacrament of Penance is God's gift to us so that any sin committed after Baptism can be forgiven.  In confession we have the opportunity to repent and recover the grace of friendship with God. It is a holy moment in which we place ourselves in his presence and honestly acknowledge our sins, especially mortal sins.  With absolution, we are reconciled to God and the Church. The Sacrament helps us stay close to the truth that we cannot live without God. "In him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28).

 Rito de Penitencia

El Sacramento de la Penitencia no solo nos libera de nuestros pecados, sino que también nos desafía a tener la misma compasión y perdón por quienes pecan contra nosotros. Somos liberados para ser perdonadores. Obtenemos una nueva perspectiva de las palabras de la Oración de San Francisco: «Perdonando somos perdonados».

Jesús confió el ministerio de la reconciliación a la Iglesia. El Sacramento de la Penitencia es un don de Dios para que cualquier pecado cometido después del Bautismo pueda ser perdonado. En la confesión tenemos la oportunidad de arrepentirnos y recuperar la gracia de la amistad con Dios. Es un momento sagrado en el que nos ponemos en su presencia y reconocemos honestamente nuestros pecados, especialmente los mortales. Con la absolución, nos reconciliamos con Dios y con la Iglesia. El Sacramento nos ayuda a mantenernos cerca de la verdad de que no podemos vivir sin Dios. «En él vivimos, nos movemos y existimos» (Hechos 17:28).

Lent is not a season of “giving up something”.  This is a time to find something.  We do make sacrificial offerings during Lent, but we do this so we will have a clearer vision of God.  We set things down so that we can pick up more prayer, more sacrifices and more opportunities to love and serve our neighbor.  What is keeping you from a greater life of prayer?  Why do you stay away from the Sacrament of Confession?  Is it pride?  Is it a disordered attachment to sin?  Is it fear?  The Lord will only love us, He will not condemn.  Lent is a season of learning to let Jesus love us and show us to power of the Cross.  We will be offering a Lenten Penance Rite on Thursday March 5th at 6:00pm in the Main Church.  Several priests will be available to hear your confessions and bring the mercy of Jesus.  I hope to see you there.  I hope to see you in prayer.  Jesus, we trust in you.

Primer Domingo de Cuaresma

La Cuaresma no es un tiempo para "renunciar a algo". Es un tiempo para encontrar algo. Hacemos ofrendas durante la Cuaresma, pero lo hacemos para tener una visión más clara de Dios. Dejamos cosas para poder dedicarnos a más oración, más sacrificios y más oportunidades de amar y servir al prójimo. ¿Qué te impide una vida de oración más profunda? ¿Por qué te alejas del Sacramento de la Confesión? ¿Es el orgullo? ¿Es un apego desordenado al pecado? ¿Es el miedo? El Señor solo nos amará, no nos condenará. La Cuaresma es un tiempo para aprender a dejar que Jesús nos ame y nos muestre el poder de la Cruz. Ofreceremos un Rito de Penitencia Cuaresmal el jueves 5 de marzo a las 6:00 p. m. en la Iglesia Principal. Varios sacerdotes estarán disponibles para escuchar sus confesiones y traer la misericordia de Jesús. Espero verlos allí. Espero verlos en oración. Jesús, confiamos en ti.
