As your pastor, I am always grateful for the beautiful generosity of the people of St. Joseph parish. This last year at St. Joseph has been blessed in many ways, especially through your time, your talents and your financial gifts. Thank you for your love, support and generosity.

It is also this time each year when I ask you to please increase your giving to St. Joseph parish. I know this is hard. Gas prices are high. Everything is more expensive than last year. It is important as families to be prudent and spend your money in a smart way. This is true for the parish as well. Our monthly bills are going up significantly. At the same time we want to give our wonderful staff members a just wage and we need to support our many ministries at the parish. Here is the reality, We Need Your Help. Please consider raising your weekly and monthly gift. Can you give 5 to 10 dollars more a week? Can you make a sacrificial offering of 20 to 40 dollars more a month? Giving to God and the Church blesses you and helps you to trust in Jesus. Don’t be afraid!

 Como su párroco, siempre estoy agradecido por la hermosa generosidad de la gente de la parroquia de San José. Este último año San José ha sido bendecido de muchas maneras, especialmente a través de su tiempo, sus talentos y sus dones económicos. Gracias por su amor, apoyo y generosidad.

También es en esta época del año cuando les pido que aumenten sus donaciones a la parroquia de St. Joseph. Sé que esto es difícil. Los precios de la gasolina son altos. Todo es más caro que el año pasado. Es importante como familias ser prudentes y gastar su dinero de manera inteligente. Esto también es cierto para la parroquia. This week on Thursday July 28th, we celebrate the Feast Day of Blessed Stanley Rother.  It is a true blessing to have a priest from Oklahoma declared a Blessed, and we hope soon a Saint of the Church. 

We will gather to celebrate the life and martyrdom of Blessed Stanley and remember his dedication to the missionary life of the church.  Every baptized Catholic is called to live the life of a missionary disciple.  Living and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus is foundational to the life of the Church. Blessed Stanley went to Guatemala to live this call as a priest.  His example is so important.  Ask him for prayers, for your family, for your intentions, for your vocation, for all the needs of your life and especially so that you will be a true disciple of Jesus. Beato Stanley Rother

 Esta semana, el jueves 28 de julio, celebramos la Fiesta del Beato Stanley Rother. Es una verdadera bendición que un sacerdote de Oklahoma sea declarado Beato, y esperamos pronto que sea Santo de la Iglesia.

Nos reuniremos para celebrar la vida y el martirio del Beato Stanley y recordar su dedicación a la vida misionera de la iglesia. Todo católico bautizado está llamado a vivir la vida de un discípulo misionero. Vivir y proclamar el Evangelio de Jesús es fundamental para la vida de la Iglesia. El Beato Stanley fue a Guatemala a vivir este llamado como sacerdote. Su ejemplo es muy importante. God's love does not distinguish between the infant in the mother's womb or the child or the youth or the adult or the older person. In each one God sees His image and likeness. Human life is a manifestation of God and His glory.

At the same time we must reach out to mothers and all women who find themselves on the midst of fear and uncertainty when pregnant. Del Papa Benedicto XVI sobre el aborto, La vida y nuestra necesidad del amor de Dios

 El amor de Dios no distingue entre el infante en el vientre de la madre o el niño o el joven o el adulto o la persona mayor. En cada uno, Dios ve Su imagen y semejanza. La vida humana es una manifestación de Dios y de su gloria.

Al mismo tiempo, debemos acercarnos a las madres y a todas las mujeres que se encuentran en medio del miedo y la incertidumbre cuando están embarazadas. St. John Paul II wrote a beautiful encyclical during his papacy on the Gospel of Life. Here is part of his opening comments on the sacredness of every human life:

“Even in the midst of difficulties and uncertainties, every person sincerely open to truth and goodness can, by the light of reason and the hidden action of grace, come to recognize in the natural law written in the heart (cf. Rom 2:14-15) the sacred value of human life from its very beginning until its end, and can affirm the right of every human being to have this primary good respected to the highest degree. Upon the recognition of this right, every human community and the political community itself are founded.

In a special way, believers in Christ must defend and promote this right, aware as they are of the wonderful truth recalled by the Second Vatican Council: "By his incarnation the Son of God has united himself in some fashion with every human being".2 This saving event reveals to humanity not only the boundless love of God who "so loved the world that he gave his only Son" (Jn 3:16), but also the incomparable value of every human person.”

 San Juan Pablo II escribió una hermosa encíclica durante su papado sobre el Evangelio de la Vida. He aquí parte de sus comentarios iniciales sobre el carácter sagrado de toda vida humana:

“Aún en medio de las dificultades e incertidumbres, todo hombre sinceramente abierto a la verdad y al bien puede, a la luz de la razón y de la acción oculta de la gracia, llegar a reconocer en la ley natural escrita en el corazón (cf. Rom 2, 14-5) el valor sagrado de la vida humana desde su comienzo hasta su fin, y puede afirmar el derecho de todo ser humano a que se respete en el más alto grado este bien primordial. Over the next couple of weeks, I would like to provide some thoughts on the church’s teaching in the human person and the importance of protecting the dignity of human persons, from conception to natural death. This is from the United States Bishop’s website:

The Catholic Church proclaims that human life is sacred and that the dignity of the human person is the foundation of a moral vision for society. This belief is the foundation of all the principles of our social teaching. In our society, human life is under direct attack from abortion and euthanasia. The value of human life is being threatened by cloning, embryonic stem cell research, and the use of the death penalty. The intentional targeting of civilians in war or terrorist attacks is always wrong. Catholic teaching also calls on us to work to avoid war. Nations must protect the right to life by finding increasingly effective ways to prevent conflicts and resolve them by peaceful means. We believe that every person is precious, that people are more important than things, and that the measure of every institution is whether it threatens or enhances the life and dignity of the human person.

Vida y dignidad de la persona humana

 Durante las próximas dos semanas, me gustaría brindar algunas reflexiones acerca de la enseñanza de la iglesia sobre la persona humana y la importancia de proteger la dignidad de las personas humanas, desde la concepción hasta la muerte natural. Jesus is with us in so many ways.  In the Holy Eucharist, Jesus is with us under the appearance of bread and wine.  I have heard many stories over the years of people having powerful encounters with Jesus in and through the Eucharist.  People are healed through the Eucharistic Lord when they receive communion. 

In Adoration of the Eucharist, people see and answer their calling from God to be priests, nuns or enter into married life.  Through the power of the Eucharist, great conversions to the Catholic faith have happened.  Hearts are conformed to Jesus as they look upon Him in the Eucharist. 

The world wants this encounter.  Every soul desire to be one with Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.  These types of encounters bring about what I call 'Eucharistic Amazement'.  Jesus is always inviting us into an intimate relationship with Him.  Say yes to this invitation!  Be amazed at Jesus who is our Lord, our food, our medicine, our eternal Joy.

La importancia del asombro eucarístico

 Jesús está con nosotros de muchas maneras. En la Sagrada Eucaristía, Jesús está con nosotros bajo la apariencia de pan y vino. He escuchado muchas historias a lo largo de los años de personas que han tenido encuentros poderosos con Jesús en y a través de la Eucaristía. Las personas se curan a través del Señor Eucarístico cuando reciben la comunión.

En la Adoración de la Eucaristía, las personas ven y responden al llamado de Dios para ser sacerdotes, monjas o para entrar en la vida matrimonial. Por el poder de la Eucaristía se han producido grandes conversiones a la fe católica. Los corazones se conforman a Jesús cuando lo miran en la Eucaristía.

El mundo quiere este encuentro. Toda alma desea ser una con Jesús en la Sagrada Eucaristía. Este tipo de encuentros provocan lo que yo llamo 'Asombro Eucarístico'. Jesús siempre nos está invitando a una relación íntima con Él. ¡Di sí a esta invitación! Asómbrate de Jesús que es nuestro Señor, nuestro alimento, nuestra medicina, nuestro Gozo eterno.

The Eucharist is the Source and Summit of the Church's life...if this is true, why do we treat this sacrament as if it has no effect on our lives?  The world is in great need of the truth of the Gospel and the Sacramental life of the Church.  We as Catholics have this great gift of the Eucharist.  In the Eucharist, we encounter the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus. 

On this Solemnity of Corpus Christi, take a moment to meditate on how humbling and beautiful is the gift of the Eucharist.  We believe that Jesus is truly present.  It is not bread and wine after the consecration, it becomes the Incarnate Word, Jesus, who says to us, "Eat my flesh and drink my blood and I will remain in you and you in me". 

This weekend the Archdiocese launches our portion of the Eucharistic Revival that is happening in Dioceses around the world.  We need to turn our hearts and minds toward this great sacrament of our salvation.  At 4pm this Sunday, festivities begin at Bishop McGuinness high school and the Eucharistic procession begins at 6:45pm.  Join Archbishop Coakley for this great Eucharistic event.  Come and Adore our Lord with Catholic faithful around the Archdiocese.

Mi carne es alimento verdadero y Mi sangre es bebida verdadera

La Eucaristía es la Fuente y Cumbre de la vida de la Iglesia... si esto es cierto, ¿por qué tratamos este sacramento como si no tuviera efecto en nuestras vidas? El mundo tiene gran necesidad de la verdad del Evangelio y de la vida sacramental de la Iglesia. Nosotros como católicos tenemos este gran don de la Eucaristía. En la Eucaristía encontramos el Cuerpo y la Sangre, el Alma y la Divinidad de Jesús.

En esta Solemnidad de Corpus Christi, tómate un momento para meditar cuán humilde y hermoso es el don de la Eucaristía. Creemos que Jesús está realmente presente. No es pan y vino después de la consagración, se convierte en el Verbo Encarnado, Jesús, que nos dice: "Comed mi carne y bebed mi sangre y yo permaneceré en vosotros y vosotros en mí".

Este fin de semana, la Arquidiócesis lanza nuestra parte del Avivamiento Eucarístico que está ocurriendo en las diócesis de todo el mundo. Necesitamos volver nuestros corazones y mentes hacia este gran sacramento de nuestra salvación. A las 4:00 p. m. de este domingo, comienzan las festividades en la escuela secundaria Bishop McGuinness y la procesión eucarística comienza a las 6:45 p. m. On Sunday June 19 m, beginning at 4:00 pm at Bishop McGuiness High School, the Archdiocese will launch its efforts to bring about a great revival in our devotion, belief and love of Jesus in the Eucharist. 

There is so much happening in world; Mass shootings, war, economic uncertainty, untold personal suffering and more.  We are walking in darkness, but there is a light.  Jesus calls us to seek him in the Eucharist. 

Participate in this procession and Eucharistic devotion on June 19.  Sign up for and hour of adoration here at St. Joseph parish.  We need a great number of adorers daily and always in our chapel praying for the world.

Come to confession, to daily mass, come to the Lord Jesus who can restore all things. The world is passing away, but the word of God is eternal.  Jesus wants you to seek Him in the Eucharist.  We rejoice in the great gift of Jesus in this Divine Sacrament.

Avivamiento Eucarístico

El domingo 19 de junio, a partir de las 4:00 pm en la Escuela Secundaria Bishop McGuiness, la Arquidiócesis iniciará sus esfuerzos para generar un gran renacimiento en nuestra devoción, creencia y amor por Jesús en la Eucaristía.

Están sucediendo tantas cosas en el mundo; Tiroteos masivos, guerra, incertidumbre económica, sufrimiento personal incalculable y más. Estamos caminando en la oscuridad, pero hay una luz. Jesús nos llama a buscarlo en la Eucaristía.

Participe en esta procesión y devoción eucarística el 19 de junio. Regístrese para una hora de adoración aquí en la parroquia de San José. Necesitamos un gran número de adoradores en nuestra capilla, para que diariamente y por siempre, estemos orando por el mundo.

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Pentecost.  The Church was born on this day, in the upper room, where the Apostles encountered the Holy Spirit resting upon them as tongues of fires.  As they received the power of the Holy Spirit, they also received the authority to preach, teach and govern this new church.  They went out from the upper room to all the corners of the earth with the message of the Gospel. 

The Holy Spirit is given to each of us at our baptism and strengthened in the Sacrament of Confirmation.  We too can call upon the power of the Holy Spirit to help us fight temptation, to help us choose the good, the true and the beautiful and to help us see Jesus in all people. 

Come Holy Spirit, fill us with your love.  I encourage you to daily call upon the power of the Holy Spirit in your lives of faith.  With the Holy Spirit, we are never alone, God is present sanctifying our lives and calling us to be Saints.  There is only one sadness in this life, to not be a Saint.   Come Holy Spirit

Ven Espíritu Santo

Hoy celebramos la Solemnidad de Pentecostés. La Iglesia nació en este día, en el cenáculo, donde los Apóstoles se encontraron con el Espíritu Santo posado sobre ellos como lenguas de fuego. Al recibir el poder del Espíritu Santo, también recibieron la autoridad para predicar, enseñar y gobernar esta nueva iglesia. Salieron del aposento alto a todos los rincones de la tierra con el mensaje del Evangelio.

El Espíritu Santo se nos da a cada uno de nosotros en nuestro bautismo y se fortalece en el Sacramento de la Confirmación. Nosotros también podemos invocar el poder del Espíritu Santo para que nos ayude a luchar contra la tentación, para que nos ayude a elegir lo bueno, lo verdadero y lo bello y para que nos ayude a ver a Jesús en todas las personas.

Ven Espíritu Santo, llénanos de tu amor. Los animo a invocar diariamente el poder del Espíritu Santo en sus vidas de fe. Con el Espíritu Santo nunca estamos solos, Dios está presente santificando nuestra vida y llamándonos a ser santos. Solo hay una tristeza en esta vida, no ser un Santo. Ven, Espíritu Santo

This Sunday we celebrate the moment when Jesus ascends to heaven to take His place at the right hand of the Father.  As Jesus was ascending to heaven, he commanded His apostles to teach, evangelize and baptize all nations.  Jesus is calling them to a great mission, namely, to proclaim the saving truth of the Gospel to the world. 

He has asked them to baptize souls so they can encounter the saving love of God.  He has asked them to teach the faith, according to the revelation Jesus has given to them. 

Today we celebrate the truth of Jesus who calls all people to be saints and to proclaim the Gospel to the nations.  Jesus also told His apostles, and all of us, as He ascended to heaven, "I will be with you always".  We trust that Jesus is truly with us, guiding us and helping us to live our Baptismal call, "Go Make Disciples". Solemnidad de la Ascensión de Nuestro Señor

 Este domingo celebramos el momento en que Jesús asciende al cielo para tomar su lugar a la diestra del Padre. Mientras Jesús ascendía al cielo, ordenó a sus apóstoles que enseñaran, evangelizaran y bautizaran a todas las naciones. Jesús los está llamando a una gran misión, a saber, proclamar la verdad salvadora del Evangelio al mundo.

Les ha pedido que bauticen las almas para que puedan encontrar el amor salvador de Dios. Les ha pedido que enseñen la fe, según la revelación que Jesús les ha dado.

Hoy celebramos la verdad de Jesús que llama a todos los hombres a ser santos y a proclamar el Evangelio a las naciones. This Thursday, many of our children at the parish will receive the sacrament of confirmation.  Archbishop Coakley will be here to administer the sacrament. With the children, their parents and their sponsors will be present to celebrate the occasion.

But what does this sacrament do for us?  Why is it important to receive the sacrament of confirmation?  For Catholics, confirmation completes the grace received at baptism. In baptism we become children of the God and are claimed by Jesus forever.  In confirmation, Jesus calls us to be witnesses of the faith.  We are chosen in baptism and we are sent out in confirmation.  The Holy Spirit is active in a whole new way through the sacrament of confirmation. 

Through the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we are strengthened to proclaim, defend and live our Catholic faith fully.  We congratulate our children and their families.  We ask the Holy Spirit to give all of us the courage and desire to proclaim, defend and live our Catholic faith.  Be true witnesses of the love of Jesus in the world.  Fr. El Sacramento de la Confirmación

Este jueves, muchos de nuestros jóvenes de la parroquia recibirán el sacramento de la confirmación. El Arzobispo Coakley estará aquí para administrar el sacramento. Con los niños, sus padres y sus patrocinadores estarán presentes para celebrar la ocasión.

Pero, ¿qué hace este sacramento por nosotros? ¿Por qué es importante recibir el sacramento de la confirmación? Para los católicos, la confirmación completa la gracia recibida en el bautismo. En el bautismo nos convertimos en hijos de Dios y somos reclamados por Jesús para siempre. En la confirmación, Jesús nos llama a ser testigos de la fe. Somos escogidos en el bautismo y somos enviados en la confirmación. El Espíritu Santo está activo de una manera completamente nueva a través del sacramento de la confirmación.

A través de los dones del Espíritu Santo, somos fortalecidos para proclamar, defender y vivir plenamente nuestra fe católica. Felicitamos a nuestros niños y sus familias. Pedimos al Espíritu Santo que nos dé a todos el valor y el deseo de proclamar, defender y vivir nuestra fe católica. Ser verdaderos testigos del amor de Jesús en el mundo. Padre Irwin

This Saturday, 43 of our children celebrate their first holy communion.  This is a special and important moment in the life of any Catholic person.  To receive Jesus in the Eucharist responds to the call of Jesus in the Gospel of John, “Eat my flesh and drink my blood, and you will have life”.  

The Eucharist in our food for this journey to heaven. Jesus wants to transform our lives through the sacrament of His body and blood.  In the Eucharist, we become what we receive.  Conform your hearts and minds to that of Jesus.  Be the hands, feet and words of Jesus in the world.  Live eternally with Jesus in the joy of heaven.  

We congratulate our children, their families, godparents and all who have helped them to prepare for this day.  Thank you to our Catechists and Itzel Duke for your dedication to helping our parents and children prepare well for this sacramental moment.  God bless you all, Fr. Irwin

Fin de Semana de Primera Comunión

Este sábado, 43 de nuestros niños celebran su primera comunión. Este es un momento especial e importante en la vida de cualquier persona católica. Recibir a Jesús en la Eucaristía responde al llamado de Jesús en el Evangelio de Juan: “Comed mi carne y bebed mi sangre, y tendréis vida”.

La Eucaristía en nuestro alimento para este camino al cielo. Jesús quiere transformar nuestras vidas a través del sacramento de su cuerpo y sangre. En la Eucaristía, nos convertimos en lo que recibimos. Conformad vuestros corazones y mentes a los de Jesús. Ser las manos, los pies y las palabras de Jesús en el mundo. Vive eternamente con Jesús en el gozo del cielo.

Felicitamos a nuestros niños, sus familias, padrinos y todos los que les han ayudado a prepararse para este día. Gracias a nuestros catequistas e Itzel Duke por su dedicación para ayudar a nuestros padres e hijos a prepararse bien para este momento sacramental. Dios los bendiga a todos, P. Irwin

Today we celebrate Mothers in our parish, our Church and in our country.  I would like to wish all our mothers, grandmothers, Godmothers, and all who consider themselves mothers a blessed day and many graces.  We, your children, are so grateful for all you do for our families. 

We pray for our mothers who are expecting children.  We pray for our mothers who have lost children.  We pray for our mothers who work daily to bring the love of Jesus to the world. 

We also turn to our Blessed Mother, Mary.  She is the icon of holiness, humility and trust in the vocation that God for her as Mother of God and Mother of the Church.  She is a model for all people, especially mothers.  May her prayers inspire us and guide our hearts to Jesus.  Fr. Irwin

Felíz Día de las Madres

Hoy celebramos a las Madres en nuestra parroquia, nuestra Iglesia y en nuestro país. Quisiera desearles a todas nuestras madres, abuelas, madrinas y a todas las que se consideren madres un bendecido día y muchas gracias.

Nosotros, sus hijos, estamos muy agradecidos por todo lo que hacen por nuestras familias. Oramos por nuestras madres que están esperando hijos. Oramos por nuestras madres que han perdido hijos. Oramos por nuestras madres que trabajan diariamente para llevar el amor de Jesús al mundo.

También nos dirigimos a nuestra Santísima Madre, María. Ella es ícono de santidad, de humildad y de confianza en la vocación que Dios le ha dado como Madre de Dios y Madre de la Iglesia. Ella es un modelo para todas las personas, especialmente para las madres. Que sus oraciones nos inspiren y guíen nuestros corazones a Jesús. Padre Irwin

The Easter season is full of many beautiful rituals and symbols.  We do not celebrate Easter Sunday for one day.  Easter is a season in the Catholic Church that lasts for 50 days.  Easter Sunday is a full 8 day Octave.  We love to celebrate seasons in the Church, surrounded by ritual, prayer, faith and the Church’s liturgical life. 

One of the great symbols of Easter is the ‘Easter Candle’.  This candle represents the light of Christ that enlightens the darkness of our hearts and minds, brings faith, hope and love to the world and dispels evil from the Church.  The Easter Candle is blessed and lit at the Easter Vigil every year, brought into the dark Church, and is the light that fills the building with the glow of Jesus.  Let this light burn bright in your lives.  Jesus wants to meet you in prayer, in the Sacraments and in the celebration of the Holy Mass.  Meet Jesus at the altar and in the Eucharist.  Let this light continue to guide your life.  Let Jesus be your light and the light of the world.  Have a blessed Easter Season! Símbolos de la Temporada de Pascua

La temporada de Pascua está llena de muchos hermosos rituales y símbolos. No celebramos el Domingo de Pascua por un día. La Pascua es una temporada en la Iglesia Católica que dura 50 días. El Domingo de Pascua es una Octava completa de 8 días. Nos encanta celebrar los tiempos de la Iglesia, rodeados de rito, oración, fe y vida litúrgica de la Iglesia.

Uno de los grandes símbolos de la Pascua es el 'Cirio Pascual'. Esta vela representa la luz de Cristo que ilumina la oscuridad de nuestros corazones y mentes, trae fe, esperanza y amor al mundo y disipa el mal de la Iglesia. El Cirio Pascual se bendice y se enciende en la Vigilia Pascual de cada año, se lleva a la Iglesia oscura y es la luz que llena el edificio con el resplandor de Jesús. Dejen que esta luz brille intensamente en sus vidas. Jesús quiere encontrarte en la oración, en los Sacramentos y en la celebración de la Santa Misa. Encuentra a Jesús en el altar y en la Eucaristía. Deja que esta luz siga guiando tu vida. Deja que Jesús sea tu luz y la luz del mundo. ¡Que tengas una bendita Semana Santa! Padre Irwin

Today we turn to our Lord who pours out Mercy and Peace upon the world. From the Sacred Heart of Jesus, an ocean of mercy is offered to all who seek Him, who know Him, who proclaim the truth that Jesus is Savior of the world. 

Jesus brought this message to St. Faustina and she revealed it in her diary.  Our Lord tells us, “I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which grace flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet”. Diary 699

   Today at 3pm, join me for an Hour of Mercy in the main Church.  We will have adoration, pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet, rosary and lift our hearts to the Lord who loves us.  I encourage you to come to confession sometime before Divine Mercy Sunday.  God bless you all, Fr. Irwin

Hoy nos dirigimos a nuestro Señor que derrama Misericordia y Paz sobre el mundo. Desde el Sagrado Corazón de Jesús se ofrece un océano de misericordia a todos los que le buscan, a los que le conocen, a los que proclaman la verdad de que Jesús es el Salvador del mundo.

Jesús trajo este mensaje a Santa Faustina y ella lo reveló en su diario. Nuestro Señor nos dice: “Deseo que la Fiesta de la Misericordia sea refugio y cobijo para todas las almas, y especialmente para los pobres pecadores. En ese día se abren las profundidades mismas de Mi tierna misericordia. Derramo todo un océano de gracias sobre aquellas almas que se acercan a la fuente de Mi misericordia. El alma que se confiese y reciba la Sagrada Comunión obtendrá el completo perdón de los pecados y de las penas. En ese día se abren todas las compuertas divinas por las que fluye la gracia. Que ningún alma tema acercarse a Mí, aunque sus pecados sean como la grana”. diario 699

   Hoy a las 3:00 p. m., únete a mí para una Hora de la Misericordia en la Iglesia principal. Tendremos adoración, rezaremos la Coronilla de la Divina Misericordia, rosario y elevaremos nuestro corazón al Señor que nos ama. We begin Holy Week each year with Palm Sunday, the commemoration of Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem and a reflection on the Passion of our Lord.  This week is a retreat. 

The Church invites us to contemplate the last days of our Lord, His Passion, Death and Resurrection, and how we play our part in the story of salvation. Take time to pray, to read and meditate on the Passion narratives of the Gospels and consider how you will take up your cross and follow Jesus. 

Remember the words of Jesus from the Cross, “it is fulfilled”.  Jesus accomplishes His great work of redemption from the Cross.  Look toward the Cross of Jesus and find true purpose, true love, the truth that Jesus is Savior of the World.

Semana Santa 2022

Comenzamos la Semana Santa cada año con el Domingo de Ramos, la conmemoración de la entrada de Jesús en Jerusalén y una reflexión sobre la Pasión de nuestro Señor. Esta semana es un retiro.

La Iglesia nos invita a contemplar los últimos días de nuestro Señor, Su Pasión, Muerte y Resurrección, y cómo jugamos nuestro papel en la historia de la salvación. Tómese el tiempo para orar, leer y meditar en las narraciones de la Pasión de los Evangelios y considere cómo tomará su cruz y seguirá a Jesús.

Recuerda las palabras de Jesús desde la Cruz, “se ha cumplido”. Jesús realiza Su gran obra de redención desde la Cruz. Mire hacia la Cruz de Jesús y encuentre el verdadero propósito, el verdadero amor, la verdad de que Jesús es el Salvador del Mundo.

Lent Is Not Over

This is the 5th Sunday of Lent, we are coming to the end of our Lenten Retreat.  We are not done asking the Lord to turn our hearts and minds toward His love.  Do not stop now!  There are so many graces and blessings that the Lord wishes to give.  Come to adoration this week.  Pray your rosary daily. 

Read the daily readings for mass.  Come to daily mass.  Spend time praying with your family.  In these coming days leading up to Holy Week, we ask the Lord to show us our sins and weaknesses.  Have you made a good confession during this season of Lent?  Also, give thanks to God for all His love.  We have much to pray for in our world.  Seek the Lord.

La Cuaresma no ha terminado

 Este es el quinto domingo de Cuaresma, estamos llegando al final de nuestro Retiro de Cuaresma. No hemos terminado de pedirle al Señor que vuelva nuestros corazones y mentes hacia Su amor. ¡No pares ahora! Son tantas las gracias y bendiciones que el Señor desea dar. Ven a la adoración esta semana. Reza tu rosario diariamente.

Lee las lecturas diarias para la misa. Ven a misa diaria. Pasa tiempo orando con tu familia. En estos próximos días previos a la Semana Santa, pidamos al Señor que nos muestre nuestros pecados y debilidades. ¿Has hecho una buena confesión durante este tiempo de Cuaresma? También, da gracias a Dios por todo Su amor. Tenemos mucho por qué orar en nuestro mundo. Busca al Señor.

Laetare Sunday “Rejoice!”

 The fourth Sunday of Lent is known as Laetare Sunday, a Latin word meaning ‘Rejoice’.  This Sunday signifies a midway point in the Lenten spiritual practices, time to rejoice in the goodness of the Lord, and it tells us we are quickly approaching the Easter celebrations.  It is a good time to re-commit ourselves to our Lenten prayer and fasting.  It is a good opportunity to turn again to Jesus and ask for his abundant blessing.  Let us Rejoice this Sunday in the Grace and Love of the Lord.

Thank you again for all who made our Feast of St. Joseph celebration so wonderful.  May God bless our parish abundantly on these days of prayer.

Laetare Domingo “¡Alégrate!”

El cuarto domingo de Cuaresma se conoce como Domingo Laetare, una palabra latina que significa “Alégrate”. Este domingo significa un punto medio en las prácticas espirituales de Cuaresma, tiempo para regocijarse en la bondad del Señor, y nos dice que nos acercamos rápidamente a las celebraciones de Pascua. Es un buen momento para volver a comprometernos con nuestra oración y ayuno de Cuaresma. Es una buena oportunidad para volverse a Jesús y pedir su abundante bendición. Regocijémonos este domingo en la Gracia y el Amor del Señor.

Gracias nuevamente por todos los que hicieron que nuestra celebración de la Fiesta de San José fuera tan maravillosa. Que Dios bendiga abundantemente a nuestra parroquia en estos días de oración.

This Saturday, March 19th, was the Solemnity of our patron saint at the parish, St. Joseph.  With this in mind, I want to thank you all for your love and care for this parish. Thank you to all our volunteers, those who give of their time and talent to help St. Joseph and all the work we do to build a culture of disciples.  Thank you to all who contribute to the financial needs of the parish, your generosity is appreciated.

Thank you to our wonderful parish staff who work hard every day to provide for the needs of our parishioners and the community.  Let’s pray to St. Joseph, asking for his prayers to our Lord, Jesus Christ.  St. Joseph, pray for us and may this parish know many more years of service to the Holy Church of God.

San José, ruega por nosotros

 Este sábado 19 de marzo fue la Solemnidad de nuestro santo patrón en la parroquia, San José. Con esto en mente, quiero agradecerles a todos por su amor y cuidado por esta parroquia. Gracias a todos nuestros voluntarios, aquellos que dan de su tiempo y talento para ayudar a San José y todo el trabajo que hacemos para construir una cultura de discípulos. Gracias a todos los que contribuyen a las necesidades financieras de la parroquia, se agradece su generosidad.

Gracias a nuestro maravilloso personal parroquial que trabaja arduamente todos los días para satisfacer las necesidades de nuestros feligreses y la comunidad. Oremos a San José, pidiendo sus oraciones a nuestro Señor Jesucristo. San José, ruega por nosotros y que esta parroquia conozca muchos años más de servicio a la Santa Iglesia de Dios.
